Srinagar, June 28 (KNO) : Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Friday expressed concern over the condition of incarcerated Kashmiris in different jails across the state and elsewhere and reiterated his demand of release of all political prisoners. Sehrai as per a statement issued to KNO claimed that “all the accusations against them are politically motivated just in order to make them into submission. Majority of the detainees are facing severe ailments. To prolong the detention of these Kashmiri prisoners, the authorities deliberately often don’t produce them before the courts on time for fair trial as well.” He said that “pathetic plight of Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in different jails should serve as an eye opener for the human rights organizations to see how they are being subjected to political vendetta.” “Not only political prisoners, but their families too are going through a continuous trauma. The treatment meted out to them is not only a violation of the Geneva conventions of the rights and dignity of prisoners but even against basic human practices and ethics,” he said.(KNO)
